Agile at 1888 Studio

At 1888 Studio, we embrace Agile practices to ensure that our projects are managed efficiently and effectively. Agile methodologies help us adapt to changes, deliver value continuously, and improve our processes through regular feedback. This section will explain the Agile ceremonies we follow and how interns will participate.

Daily Standups

Overview

Daily standups are brief meetings where team members share their progress, plans, and any obstacles they are facing. At 1888 Studio, we conduct our daily standups via the “daily-standup” Slack channel.

Participation

  • Timing: Post your standup update every morning before 10 AM.
  • Format: Your standup update should include:
    • What you did yesterday
    • What you plan to do today
    • Any blockers or issues you’re facing

Example Standup Post

Yesterday: Completed the user authentication module.
Today: Starting work on the user profile feature.
Blockers: Need clarification on the data schema for the user profile.

Bi-Monthly Sprints

Sprint Planning

Before each sprint, we hold a sprint planning session to define the work to be completed in the upcoming sprint. This helps ensure that everyone is aligned and aware of their tasks and priorities.

Participation

  • Preparation: Review the backlog and come prepared with any questions or suggestions.

  • During the Meeting: Actively participate in discussions, ask for clarifications, and ensure you understand your assigned tasks.

Demo Day

At the end of each sprint, we have a demo day where team members showcase their work to stakeholders. This is an opportunity to demonstrate progress and gather feedback.

Participation

  • Presentation: Prepare to present your completed work. This could involve live demos, slides, or any other format that effectively communicates your progress.

  • Feedback: Be ready to receive and discuss feedback from stakeholders.

Retrospective

After each sprint, we conduct a retrospective to reflect on the sprint’s process, discuss what went well, and identify areas for improvement.

Participation

  • Reflection: Think about your experiences during the sprint. What worked well? What didn’t?

  • Contribution: Share your thoughts and suggestions for improving our processes.

Grooming Sessions

Occasionally, we have grooming sessions to review and refine complex tickets. These sessions help ensure that requirements are clear and that tasks are well-defined.

Participation

  • Engagement: Participate actively in grooming sessions. Ask questions and provide input to help clarify and refine tickets.

  • Preparation: Review the tickets in advance and come prepared with any questions or concerns.
